John and Shelia’s Story
John and Sheila started their program in 2021. Through his professional experiences, John had witnessed the difficult circumstances that can lead to children being removed from their homes, and he wanted to find a way to make a positive difference in their lives.
Sheila has always been an active volunteer in the community, participating in the volunteer fire department, Lions Club, and other charitable efforts. When COVID hit in 2020, many charity events that supported children came to a halt. Sheila noticed a lack of toy drives and fundraising efforts for children and felt called to step up and help fill that need.
In their first year, John and Sheila supported local efforts to help children, including working with a local foster care agency. The following year, when that agency closed, they reached out and connected with Children First Foster Family Agency. After learning more about the needs of children in foster care, they decided to focus their efforts exclusively on supporting Children First.
Over the past four years, John and Sheila’s program has grown tremendously. Their ongoing dedication has brought countless toys, gifts, and resources to children in foster care, brightening the holidays and bringing joy to children who need it most. Each year, their generosity has reached more families and made a lasting, positive impact in our community.
