History of the Bike Drive

We started this bike drive with the idea of blessing foster youth during the Christmas holidays. In 2014 we partnered with Coca-Cola in Redding to collect used bicycles with the idea of refurbishing them. We soon realized that foster youth deserved to have a new bicycle for the simple fact that they may not have ever had one to call their own, so that is when the idea of creating the Dreams on Wheels bike drive came about.

Our agency has partnered with Starbucks to help advertise the need and the mission of why we do this each year, and so far we have been able to set up displays that are located in six different Starbucks stores from Red Bluff to Yreka, CA.
A team was created within the management of Starbucks to help boost this project in the beginning and seven years later, the bike drive is pretty well known throughout the communities we serve! In fact, we are fortunate to have yearly donations of new bicycles from individuals who come all the way from Alaska.

Our Goal and Mission

Our goal and mission is to gift a new bicycle to every foster youth in our agency that has a need. Having a new bicycle can keep kids connected in their community, it also gives a sense of freedom and can be a way to escape all that is going on with our foster youth. It is our hope that when our foster youth receive a new bicycle, it creates memories that will last a lifetime!
