A Journey of Dedication and Growth
At Children First Foster Family Agency, 2025 marks a new chapter as Shannon Pierce steps into the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO). With over 30 years of experience in education and social services, Shannon is no stranger to the challenges and triumphs of supporting foster youth and families. Her journey from educator to social worker to executive leader is a testament to her unwavering commitment to making a difference.
Shannon’s career began in the classroom, where she spent 11 years shaping young minds before transitioning into child welfare. She worked for nearly seven years with Child Protective Services (CPS) in Siskiyou County before joining Children First in 2013. Recognized for her dedication and ability to support both youth and colleagues, she was given the opportunity to step into a leadership role as Regional Director in Siskiyou County. In 2018, she took on the role of Chief Operations Officer (COO), where she played a pivotal role in expanding services and strengthening the agency’s impact.
A Vision for the Future
Now, as CEO, Shannon is ready to lead Children First into a future of growth and innovation. “I’m incredibly honored and excited to step into this role,” she shares. “Children First has always been an organization that leads with heart. I’ve seen firsthand the profound impact we make, and I’m committed to building on that foundation. I look forward to working alongside our talented team and the community to make a lasting difference.” As she takes the helm, Shannon is focused on expanding programs, strengthening partnerships, and ensuring that Children First remains a trusted resource for counties and communities.
Rooted in Experience, Driven by Compassion
Shannon’s deep understanding of the needs of foster youth and families comes from both her personal and professional experiences. Holding a master’s degree in psychology with a specialization in child and adolescent development, she has spent decades advocating for those who need it most. Her commitment is not just professional—it’s personal. Having been married for 27 years and raising two sons, Andrew and Kingstyn, Shannon understands the importance of stability, connection, and support in a child’s life.
“I’ve always believed in the power of family and community,” she says. “Our work at Children First is centered on those values, ensuring that every child and family we serve receives the care and guidance they need.”
Continuing a Legacy of Service
As she steps into the CEO role, Shannon acknowledges the incredible leadership of Children First’s founder, Mike Logan. “I’m so grateful to have worked under such a visionary leader,” she reflects. “It’s an honor to continue his legacy and support the incredible team at Children First. The work we do is vital to the community, and I’m excited for the future as we continue to grow and evolve.”
Shannon is committed to expanding the agency’s service offerings to better support the community. Children First serves not only foster youth but also families and adults who need critical resources. By strengthening partnerships and enhancing mental health services, Shannon envisions a future where Children First provides a comprehensive support system that meets the diverse needs of those they serve.
