THP Plus Requirements | About 25,000 older youth “age out” of foster care each year without a permanent family to support them. The THP Plus program is a great option for young adults trying to make a smooth transition into their independent lives. However, only certain individuals are eligible for this program, which is why it’s important to understand the THP Plus requirements before going any further. While you can always contact us for more information, we’ve included the basics in this post.
General Transitional Housing Program Qualification Requirements
For starters, only those between the ages of 18 and 24 will meet the THP Plus requirements. In addition, these young people must be former foster children who have graduated from the foster care program once they reached the age of 18. Individuals who are at risk of becoming homeless, or who are already homeless, may benefit greatly from this program, provided they meet the basic THP Plus requirements.
Time to Get Settled
Transitioning into adult life is a challenge even for those from steady homes with supportive parents. Foster children who have had difficult upbringings are even more likely to struggle, and sadly, many end up on the street. With the help of the THP Plus program, some of these individuals will be able to live in an apartment and receive support on learning how to live on their own.
A variety of skills are required to live as an independent adult, and this program aims to help former foster kids get those skills while living somewhere comfortable. The foster care system does great work for children under the age of 18, and this program makes it possible to continue that support after becoming an adult.
