The holiday season is a time for giving, and for the past seven years, our agency has been working tirelessly to provide new bicycles to foster youth in need through our “Dreams on Wheels” bike drive. We are thrilled to report that we collected a total of 158 bikes, and were able to distribute 118 of those bikes to foster youth in Shasta, Siskiyou, and Tehama counties during the 2022 holiday season.
None of this would have been possible without the help of our community partners. We would like to extend a special thanks to West Coast Monster Trucks, A & R Custom Butchering, Circle 7 Days in Red Bluff, Starbucks in Red Bluff, Anderson, Weed, and Siskiyou, Tommy Emmanuel Australian guitarist, and Walmart for their support and contributions to the bike drive. Walmart provided discount rates on the bikes themselves when Robin, one of our volunteers, went and purchased them, making it possible to stretch our funds further.
The success of this year’s bike drive is a testament to the generosity and compassion of our community. It is truly heartwarming to see how many people are willing to come together to make a difference in the lives of foster youth.
Looking ahead to next year, our goal is to raise $15,000 – $20,000, which is the amount needed to continue providing new bikes to all the foster youth in our agency who have a need. We know this is a lofty goal, but we believe in the power of community and are confident that, with everyone’s help, we can make it happen. Help us get a head-start on our goal for next year by making a tax-deductible donation today.
The history of our bike drive is rooted in the idea that every foster youth deserves a new bicycle to call their own. The joy and freedom that a new bike can bring is immeasurable, and it is our hope that these bikes will help keep our foster youth connected to their community and create lasting memories.
In conclusion, we are incredibly grateful for everyone who contributed to the success of this year’s Dreams on Wheels Bike Drive. Your support and generosity are making a real difference in the lives of foster youth in our community, and we look forward to continuing this tradition for years to come.
